A couple of days ago, a new Russian car premiered, which is essentially a Chery Tiggo 7 Pro with different logos. We decided to imagine what a crossover could look like in the current style of AVTOVAZ, which owns the plant that produces the Xcite model in St. Petersburg.
First, a little information about the history of the new brand. In the fall of 2022, Nissan sold its assets to the state structure FSUE NAMI, which is part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. Among these assets is a plant in St. Petersburg, which previously produced the Qashqai, X-Tral and Murano models. Then it came under the control of AVTOVAZ, the plant received the name “Lada St. Petersburg”, and they even began to produce crossovers Lada X-Cross 5, which is a Chinese FAW Bestune T77, but in the end this project was closed. After this, the plant once again changed its name to “Avtozavod St. Petersburg” and has now started assembling SUVs under the new brand Xcite, which should evoke associations with the English verb excite (“to excite, excite”)

The first-born of the new brand was the already quite popular in Russia crossover Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, which differs from the original only in logos and radiator grille. The latter, by the way, is also not original; almost the same one is installed on another badge infrastructure product — the DR 6.0 crossover, which is an Italian-assembled Tiggo 7. Of course, there is no need to talk about any Xcite brand style yet, so we have depicted a variant in the style of Lada, which also uses X-motifs in the design of its models. The crossover shown in the renderings received a new front bumper with a grille framed by chrome moldings and finished in the form of hexagons. At the same time, the headlights, hood and front fenders, as elements that are more labor-intensive to produce, remained unchanged. At the rear of the Lada models, there are no clear family features yet, so there is only a new bumper with a design in the style of the cross-version of Vesta. In addition, the SUV is depicted with rims in the style of the latter, as well as in the signature Lada color.

The dimensions of the new domestic crossover are similar to the Tiggo 7 Pro: length is 4500 mm, width – 1842 mm, height – 1702 mm, wheelbase – 2670 mm. The ground clearance is no different, which is 190 mm. The SUV is equipped with a single engine — a 1.5 turbocharged petrol engine with a power of 147 hp. (210 Nm). The engine is paired with a CVT, and the drive is exclusively front-wheel drive. According to the stated characteristics, the crossover takes 9.8 seconds to accelerate to “hundreds”, and the top speed is 186 km/h.

Prices for the new product have not yet been announced, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is estimated at a minimum of 2,570,000 rubles in the basic Elite configuration, the top-end Premium version costs 2,880,000 rubles. The Chinese crossover is equipped with the same 147-horsepower 1.5-liter engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
As for Chery itself, last month the updated junior crossover Tiggo 4 Pro was presented for Russia.
