Oscar 2024 winners: Oppenheimer — Best Film and Best Director

Finally, the Oscars » handed out her gongs. At times, this awards season has felt like a tedious marathon—of course, most of this year's frontrunners are worth catching. But honestly, it feels like some of the campaigns started last summer (step forward, Barbie and Oppenheimer).

Still, Christopher Nolan's atomic bomb biopic was a worthy winner, although unsurprisingly it repeated its Bafta success at the Academy Awards with seven wins again.

Poor Yorgos Lanthimos also had a great evening , winning four awards, including Best Actress for Emma Stone.

Jonathan Glaser's powerful Holocaust drama Zone of Interest (while still the definition of arthouse) has proven to be a surprise hit this season, capping its remarkable run with two Oscars.

Barbie, American Fantasy, Anatomy of a Fall and The Holdovers also won.
