YAROSLAVL, March 25 The Amateur Hockey League in Yaroslavl announced a training camp funds to the family of league player Alexei Rudnitsky, who died in the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall.
Earlier, the governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Evraev, reported that two residents of the region, Alexey Rudnitsky and Yana Kovalenkova, were killed in the terrorist attack. Their families will be paid 1 million rubles. The governor also reported that Rudnitsky left behind two minor children.
“A collection has been opened to help the family of Alexei Rudnitsky, who died in the terrorist attack in Crocus City,” reports the Yaroslavl amateur hockey league group on the VKontakte social network.
Rudnitsky’s teammate Mikhail Makhaev said that he and Alexey were not friends, but they played together for a long time, trained, and a year ago they went together to a tournament in Saransk. «There are only positive memories about him, he is kind, positive. A very modest, very well-mannered young man. A role model. I want to see all people like that. Hockey is a tough sport, and Alexey played well — fast and with a good strong throw, but always remained a gentleman on the field and in the team,” said Makhaev, adding that everyone who knew Rudnitsky has only warm memories.
According to Makhaev, Alexey and Yana came to the concert together. Hockey players also say kind words about Yan, the interlocutor noted.
The league provided a comment from one of the deceased’s teammates, Nikita Belozerov. He called Rudnitsky a man with a capital M. “This man could never offend anyone, he always restrained his emotions, he was always honest and decent,” Belozerov said. According to Belozerov, Alexey as a player always gave his all for the sake of victory. The atmosphere of the sports locker room was filled with positive emotions when Alexey appeared there, the hockey player noted.
After the news of Rudnitsky’s death, Roman Dushko, Minister of Road Facilities of the Yaroslavl Region, wrote on his page on the VKontakte social network that he knew the athlete, they played hockey together. “Although we were not close friends, I remember his kind smile and love for hockey,” Dusko wrote.
The shooting and fire occurred on the evening of March 22 before a concert at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk near Moscow. A correspondent who witnessed the incident reported that several men in camouflage and without masks burst into the hall, they shot people point-blank and threw incendiary bombs.
According to the latest data from the Investigative Committee, 137 people died, three of whom were children. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 152 people were injured as a result of the terrorist attack. March 24 was declared a day of national mourning.
Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that all four perpetrators of the terrorist attack were found and detained — they tried to escape and moved towards Ukraine, where a “window” was prepared for them on the Ukrainian side to cross the border. The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that these were foreigners. The President noted that a total of 11 people were detained, and security forces are working to uncover the entire terrorist base. According to the FSB, the weapons used by the terrorists were prepared in advance in a cache.
Putin said that Russia was faced not just with a carefully cynically planned terrorist attack, but with a prepared and organized mass murder of civilians. The President emphasized that all perpetrators, organizers and customers of this crime will suffer fair and inevitable punishment.
