On Friday evening, terrible news shocked Russia and the whole world community: there was a shooting and a fire in Crocus City Hall. Several armed terrorists mercilessly shot dozens of people and then set the building on fire. According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, 115 people are currently known to have died in the terrorist attack, and this figure will continue to grow.
Sport talks about the reaction of domestic sports to the terrible events in Krasnogorsk near Moscow.
The terrorist attack at Crocus led to the cancellation of mass events throughout the country. Emergency measures also affected the sports sphere:
- The friendly match between the Russian and Paraguay national football teams, which was supposed to take place in Moscow, has been cancelled;
- The Russian Football Union (RFU) has canceled all matches of the tour that take place under the auspices of the organization. Shortly before this, it became known that all football matches of the 24th round of the First League were postponed to reserve days;
- The Gagarin Cup matches «Spartak» — «Metallurg» and «Avangard» were postponed — «Lokomotiv». They are due to take place on March 26th. However, the meeting between Avtomobilist and SKA in Yekaterinburg will take place as scheduled at 14:30 Moscow time;
- VTB United League postponed the matches «Samara» — «Nizhny Novgorod» (March 24) and CSKA — Zenit (March 25);
- Matches of the Russian volleyball championship were postponed to the 27th;
- Handball matches on March 23 and 24 were canceled in the capital.
