MOSCOW, March 27 Telephone scammers have intensified with a new scheme — they pose as employees of the “trust service” and offer to make a donation to victims of the terrorist attack in Krasnogorsk near Moscow, Novikombank reported in Telegram -channel.
“We are concerned that you are receiving calls from unfamiliar numbers. The attackers have stepped up their efforts with a new fraudulent scheme. They introduce themselves as employees of the trust service and offer to make a donation to the victims at Crocus City Hall. A second scammer “from the financial department” may join the conversation and assure that that it is necessary to transfer money right now,” the bank said in a statement.
Previously, the curator of the Moshelovka platform, Evgenia Lazareva, warned that fraudsters, against the backdrop of the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, may begin to call for the transfer of funds supposedly to help the victims. The expert recommended donating funds only to foundations and people with a serious reputation.
Shooting and fire occurred on the evening of March 22 before a concert at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk near Moscow. A correspondent who witnessed the incident reported that several men in camouflage and without masks burst into the hall, they shot people point-blank and threw incendiary bombs.
According to the latest data from the Investigative Committee, 139 people died. On Wednesday, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that one of the victims at Crocus, who was in extremely serious condition, died; the doctors did everything possible. The editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and the RT television channel, Margarita Simonyan, reported that the number of victims had risen to 143. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 152 people were injured. The twenty-fourth of March was declared a day of national mourning.
