Autotech: BMW and Toyota have become the most popular diesel cars under 5 years old

Experts from Autoteka (Avito Auto project), online car inspection service , compiled a rating of brands and models of diesel passenger cars under 5 years old. As part of the study, service specialists counted the number of requests to check the history of cars in this segment from January 2023 to March 2024. German and Japanese cars continue to remain in the top popularity by the number of requests.

Among the most popular brands of used diesel cars in terms of the number of requests on Autotek were BMW, Toyota, Volkswagen — some even with several models. At the same time, Hyundai with the Santa Fe model is also present in the all-Russian top 10, but Mercedes-Benz is not there. The average mileage of the most popular models varies, but does not exceed 200 thousand and is not less than 100 thousand km.

The market for diesel passenger cars with mileage up to 5 years old offers a wide range of models. This segment is interesting because the greatest interest of buyers here is focused on business-class cars, full-size SUVs and mid-size crossovers of top brands. Thus, for the period from January 2023 to March 2024, the most requests for checking car history were received for the BMW 5 Series, and the average mileage of such cars was 138,091 km.

On Second place was taken by the full-size Toyota Land Cruiser SUV with an average mileage of 191,250 km. BMW once again rounds out the top three with the X5, a mid-size crossover with an average mileage of 126,239 km. In fourth place in the top is the Volkswagen Touareg. This mid-size crossover has an average mileage of 184,797 km.

In fifth place – Toyota again with the Land Cruiser Prado model. This full-size SUV of the Japanese brand is offered with an average mileage of 147,614 km.
