Today, April 1, it became known about the revival of another Russian brand — it will be Izh. And unlike other similar stories (real and promising), this car will not be “Chinese” with a different logo, but completely domestic.
We have already written several times that AVTOVAZ plans to release a new family called Iskra, which will replace the most popular car on the Russian market (based on the results of 2023) — Lada Granta. Previously, renderings of the new product in the sedan, station wagon and its cross versions were published. However, judging by recently appeared information, it was decided to leave the Granta budget platform in service, transporting it to Izhevsk. The production of Izh cars will be revived there, and the main model will be the Fabula station wagon, based on the Grant station wagon.

The original Fabula, made on the basis of the Izh-2126 hatchback, was first introduced in 2003; the station wagon was mass-produced until 2005. It was positioned as a budget, roomy car for trips to the country and traveling, and the new station wagon, made on the Granta basis, will be the same. Its appearance will be stylized as the original Izh: there will be a new hood that will “float” more strongly onto the radiator grille, and the grille itself will be made narrower. One of the most characteristic features of the Izh-2126 model is the “sloping” rear arches. As for the features of the station wagon itself, these include a noticeably higher level of the roof in the rear of the body, an almost vertical tailgate with huge glass and characteristic reflectors located to the left and right of the license plate niche. Considering the budgetary nature of the upcoming new product, you can expect unpainted bumpers, side mirror housings and door handles.

In technical terms, the Izh Fabula will be as unified as possible with the current Granta. This means that the station wagon will receive a 1.6 engine (most likely, the new product will get a more powerful version with an output of 106 hp, given the increased weight of the car) and a 5-speed manual transmission. In addition, in the future it is also planned to appear a “charged” modification of Fabula Sport with a 118-horsepower engine from a similar Granta: accepting orders for it should start on April 1 next year.

Remember, we previously talked about the experience of owning the Izh Oda hatchback with a mileage of 4900 km, as well as the Izh “Combi” station wagon 1988 with 3000 km mileage.
