Kostygova is 23 years old. The athlete competes for the Yaroslavl region.
“”By the decision of the Bureau of the Russian Equestrian Federation of March 26, 2024, athlete Kostygova was suspended for two years from competitions of any level held on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as from any type of activity related to equestrian sports. The decision was made by a majority vote “, the behavior of the athlete is completely unacceptable in relation to the horse. This not only harms the animal, but also can discredit equestrian sports and serve as a negative example for the younger generation present in the stands during the competitions in which the athlete participates,” Leachman said.
“Previously, the athlete received a disciplinary sanction. And if the first measures do not work, then more stringent ones have to be applied. Disqualification for a period of two years is a fairly serious sanction that is rarely used, since such a case is a blatant example of a cruel and unprofessional attitude towards a horse with side of the athlete,” she added.
