“It’s not like carrying bags”: Mikhalkova spoke about the difficulties of actors

< br />

MOSCOW, March 22, Anastasia Silkina. Her talent does not fit into the usual cinematic framework: she knows how to both make you laugh and make you empathize, acts in blockbusters and is not afraid of auteur cinema. In the new role of a police major and mother of many children, viewers will see Anna Mikhalkova in the series “Vasnetsova” on the Rossiya TV channel. The actress spoke about family relationships, the most difficult jobs and what films she watches in an interview.

— Often, behind different roles, a certain common type of heroine emerges in one way or another. How would you describe the image of a woman in the screen interpretation of Anna Mikhalkova?

— I think I managed not to become a hostage to one type. In my creative biography there are very different women: strong, and weak, and lonely, and with many children.

— You have tried on the form more than once: “Playing the Victim”, “Correction and Punishment”, now the series “Vasnetsova” has been released on the Rossiya TV channel. In real life, do you find any traits in yourself that would be useful if you chose a career in the organs?
— I can’t say that I bring any personal qualities. Of course, I can’t change my voice, laughter, or some behavioral things — in this the characters and I become similar. And everything else is a given of the script, the author’s intention and the director’s vision.

The artist is often credited with his on-screen image. I host “Good Night, Kids!”, and it seems to everyone that I can advise how to raise children, what to feed them, and so on. This is the great illusion of the screen.

— Speaking of children. You grew up in a large family, you have three yourself. Your heroine, Veronica Vasnetsova, has four, and she still manages to give her male colleagues a head start. Is this realistic?
— Perhaps there are such isolated cases. But this is not to say that Vasnetsova gives everyone a head start. This character is built on exactly the opposite: she is divorced, with four children she moves to a new place where she knows no one, and at the same time, with logical conclusions understandable only to her, she manages to solve crimes. Most often it comes precisely from maternal experience.

— What advice could you give to working mothers from your own experience?

“I haven’t given advice to anyone for a long time!” The only thing is that only a happy parent can raise a happy child. Because children are definitely brought up not by lectures, but by what they hear when you talk on the phone with a friend. And, of course, it is important for a child to feel loved. But not in the sense that they allow him everything and buy him gifts.
Now the story of a happy childhood is absolutely overrated. And in general, a happy childhood is strange. While developing, a child must learn to exist in a fairly aggressive adult environment. Therefore, school cannot be the most comfortable place.

— What family traditions or rules did you transfer from your parents’ home to your own? As for children.

— This always happens unconsciously: we either repeat the model of the world of our parents, or, on the contrary, we say: “I will never punish my child because I was punished.»
In general, all children are very different, and each one receives a special approach. For some, it is enough to be told strictly, but for others, they need to be put in a corner or deprived of a computer game.
— You once mentioned in an interview that you wrote letters to your father when you wanted to express your position on some issue.
— Of course, now no one writes letters anymore, everything is in SMS.

We have a general chat with all the children — mine, Nadina’s, Temina’s — where we celebrate some achievements as a family. For example, someone wins a match and everyone congratulates each other. This is the norm for a large family, when someone’s successes are perceived as a common joy.

— Returning to “Vasnetsova”. The series was filmed in Kaliningrad. How do you like this region?
— Beautiful! It was one of the first to attract a very large number of cinematic projects and became a cinema mecca thanks to the rebate program (subsidies that help offset part of the costs of film production. — Ed.). Now, of course, it has become more difficult to get there.

The region is very actively developing tourism, and Kaliningrad has flourished: there are many museums and cultural programs.
— In general, do you like to travel?
—I love it very much, for me a change of scenery is a form of relaxation. I am grateful to my profession, because, to my joy, filming is becoming decentralized, everyone goes to different places in Russia. This is the best way to see the country — how big and diverse it is!

— You have experience in different genres: drama, comedy, and documentary format. What is closer to you personally and why? As an actress and as a viewer.

— I do cinema from the point of view of studying human nature in general and myself in particular. And the films that I love are not films for everyone, as they say. I prefer arthouse, complex themes. But I also watch comedies.
I have nothing against cinema for the mass audience — it’s wonderful as a vacation, when a person comes home from work and wants to watch something while preparing dinner, and not burden himself even more. «Vasnetsova» is just such a series for a wide audience that easily fits into everyday life.
I try to choose projects for different audiences. This is interesting to me from the point of view of acting tasks: when you change genres, roles and audiences as well. One thing you play is taking into account the fact that it should be understandable and interesting to a large number of people. And another thing is that we understand that this work develops film language, touches on complex topics that not everyone wants and is ready to discuss.

—What is your most difficult job?
— For example, comedy is the easiest genre, but from the point of view of working in it, it is the most difficult. Great concentration and clear inner hearing are needed. The first season of Correction and Punishment was the hardest for me, because the laws of a sitcom require a high level of acting skills.
Dramas can also be difficult, but I don’t take them on myself — it’s just work for me. It happens that life circumstances interfere with filming, and they seem difficult.

“Anna’s Feelings” was a complex work, even a piece of jewelry. Oddly enough, “Lord of the Wind” was also difficult, because playing a positive character is much more difficult than any negative one.
But in general, the acting profession is not about carrying sixty-kilogram bags. So it’s unfair to talk about its difficulties.
