MOSCOW, March 22, Andrey Vasilchin. The sports community has been discussing the shocking news about the death of former hockey player Konstantin Koltsov in Miami for several days. Could problems in his personal life have caused the tragedy?

    Fell in love with Sabalenko
The romantic relationship between Koltsov and Sabalenko began about three years ago. The hockey player was in a marriage in which three children were born, but in 2020, Konstantin’s wife announced a divorce and published an unequivocal post on social networks, after which Koltsov’s relationship with Sabalenko began to be widely discussed on the Internet.

“< br>“An appeal to all the girls hanging on other people's husbands with children in the family! This is vile! This is the most amazing and happiest time, but at the same time the most difficult, because a small child takes a lot of strength, energy and time… This can happen , that you too will be there someday…” wrote Koltsov's ex-wife, noting the tennis player in the publication.

Koltsov joined Sabalenka’s coaching staff, helped her with physical training and contributed to the return of the Belarusian athlete to the top of the world rankings. The couple published cute posts on social networks and joked about Sabalenko’s imminent departure on maternity leave.

Koltsov was part of the coaching staff of Salavat Yulaev, and after the end of the season with the Ufa club arrived in Miami, where Sabalenka was supposed to compete at the WTA 1000 series tournament. But he did not see Arina’s games at the tournament – Koltsov’s body was found under the windows of the hotel. The police said that they found no signs of violent death, so they are investigating the possibility of suicide.

    “An unthinkable tragedy”
According to Koltsov’s ex-wife, Konstantin had no reason to take his own life.

“I think it was an accident “Nothing foreshadowed trouble. Konstantin rented a car for a long time, he paid for purchases that had not yet arrived, then he booked apartments in another place,” she was quoted as saying by “Belarusian Hockey”.

In a comment to sport.kz, she added that empty alcohol bottles were found in Koltsov’s room. Theories are being built on the Internet that Koltsov could not cope with the news of his separation from Sabalenka, which he probably learned the day before. The tennis player confirmed the fact of the breakup in a post on social networks dedicated to Koltsov.

“Kostya’s death is an unthinkable tragedy, and although we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my personal life and personal life of his family during this difficult time,” she wrote.

The organizers of the Miami tournament have given Sabalenka an extra day to recover, her next match is scheduled for March 22. After the news of Koltsov's death, the tennis player went out to practice, dressed all in black. >
Koltsov’s ex-wife said that she wants to bury him in his homeland, in Belarus. She did not bring any charges against Sabalenka.
