Information recently appeared about the first new products that will be the fruit of cooperation between Volkswagen and Xpeng. The first of them will be a crossover, and we decided to imagine what it will look like.
The Chinese company Xpeng was founded in 2014 by a group of businessmen with experience in the automotive industry and the IT sector. The first model appeared in 2018, and now there are already five models in the company’s lineup. Last year, the Volkswagen concern acquired Xpeng's share, and it was announced that they would jointly develop new models under the latter's brand.

The first model will be a crossover, and a kind of teaser of the future new product has already been published. It shows the car in profile and is very reminiscent of the flagship electric SUV Xpeng G9, which premiered in the summer of 2022. We took this model as the basis for the renderings, while the design of the front part was made in the current style of Volkswagen electric models. The original door handles were borrowed from them, and new lights were made in their same style.

The Xpeng G9, on the basis of which a new Volkswagen crossover can be built, has very large dimensions: length – 4891 mm, width – 1937 mm, height – 1680 mm, wheelbase – 2998 mm. However, it only has two rows of seats. The power plant of the all-wheel drive Xpeng G9 produces a maximum of 551 hp. and 717 Nm, the stated acceleration time to 100 km/h is 3 seconds.

The start of sales of the first new Volkswagen products on the Chinese platform is scheduled for early 2026
