As part of the Beijing Motor Show, the updated flagship electric liftback Mercedes-Benz EQS and the hybrid coupe Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E will also make their world premiere Performance.

The electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class was officially announced in the fall of 2021 under the EQG concept — then it was assumed that the production version of the model would receive the same name, but last year it became known that Mercedes-Benz management decided to gradually abandon the EQ labeling of its electric new products, in today's press release the electric SUV is announced as the G 580 with EQ Technology. It is still unclear whether the letters EQ will be present in one form or another on the body.

There are no new technical details about the electric “Gelik” yet. Back in 2022, selected representatives of foreign media were given a ride on Mercedes-Benz EQG prototypes, then it became known that the electric SUV will receive a four-motor power plant (one motor per wheel) and a modified frame into which a battery with a capacity of about 100 kWh is integrated. Mercedes-Benz promises that the electric G-Class will have absolutely outstanding off-road capabilities, be able to perform a U-turn and other tricks. We will find out all the details soon.
Current Mercedes-Benz EQS
We talked about the upcoming restyling of the flagship electric liftback Mercedes-Benz EQS last week: it is known that it will receive a more capacious battery of 118 kWh (currently 108 kWh), and next year the EQS will move from 400-volt to 800 -V electrical architecture and will receive electric motors of Mercedes-Benz's own production instead of the current ones from Valeo. However, it is much more interesting how the design of the EQS will change, because the market did not accept its current fish-shaped appearance, sales were much lower than expected.

Note that all Mercedes-Benz world premieres announced for the Beijing Motor Show will not be localized in China, and nevertheless, for reasons of prestige, this is where they will debut, since China remains one of the main global consumers of luxury goods, including expensive cars. Mercedes-Benz sold 737,226 vehicles in China last year, down 2.2% from sales in 2022, according to its own data. In January-February this year, the decline continued: according to CAAM (China Association of Automobile Manufacturers), 81,513 Mercedes-Benz cars were sold in China, which is 12.6% less than the result of January-February 2023, but CAAM statistics take into account only locally assembled cars .
