The five-door with a revived name will be available to Europeans as a hybrid or a full-fledged electric vehicle. The model is expected to go on sale in the fall.
Previously, the Frontera name was borne by the Opel frame SUV — the twin of the Isuzu Rodeo; the “German” lasted on the assembly line from 1991 to 2004. Now this name has been revived for a compact SUV on the CMP platform (the Stellantis concern also designates this version as the Smart Car Platform), the closest relative of which is the recently introduced European Citroen C3 of the new generation. It is believed that in the Opel range, a fresh five-door will replace the Crossland model (it has been in service since 2017).

There are practically no technical details about the new Opel Frontera cross — the brand has so far focused on design. Of course, the exterior is designed in the Vizor corporate style: LED headlights are united by a black panel that imitates a radiator grille, which should evoke associations with a helmet visor. The SUV also received rather aggressive bumpers, and the rear lights were made into two sections, with the upper sections floating onto the tailgate. The side panels are almost the same as those of the related Citroen C3. But Frontera became the first production model of the brand with an updated logo.
Of the dimensions, only the trunk volume has been announced at the moment. The minimum figure for Opel Frontera is 460 liters. Probably, the company took into account the “underground”, which is already in the database, because the Citroen C3 has a volume of only 310 liters. With the backs of the second row of seats folded (they are divided in a ratio of 60:40), the total volume of the Frontera's cargo compartment will already be 1,600 liters (Citroen's maximum figure has not yet been specified). Well, for comparison, here are the dimensions of the “French”: length – 4015 mm, width – 1813 mm, height – 1577 mm, wheelbase – 2540 mm.

Inside the Frontera there is a virtual instrument panel and a touchscreen multimedia system installed back to back (each display is 10 inches diagonal), a truncated steering wheel and a compact transmission control selector. The model also received comfortable front seats and a cooled wireless smartphone pad. They haven't talked about the rest of the equipment yet.

It was announced that the Opel Frontera crossover will first be available to Europeans as an electric car, and later a 48-volt hybrid will go on sale. Let us remind you that the new Citroen C3 in Europe is now also presented only in a completely “green” version with an electric motor with a power of 113 hp located on the front axle. and a battery with a capacity of 44 kWh. The hybrids will have a 1.2 PureTech petrol turbo engine (136 hp). The Frontera is probably not equipped with all-wheel drive.
The new Opel should reach “old-world” dealers in the fall, by which time details about the technology will be revealed. For an electric Citroen C3 in France today they are asking a minimum of 23,300 euros.
