Turkish Fenerbahçe, as expected, did not fight for the Super Cup country and, as a sign of protest, refused to continue the meeting with the principled enemy Galatasaray. Sport talks about the reasons for the “canaries” protest and what one of the leading Super League clubs plans to do in the future.
They came out, missed, left Fenerbahçe came to the match in Sanliurfa with a mixed squad (players from the youth and youth teams were involved) and missed at the very beginning of the meeting: Argentine forward Mauro Icardi scored in the first minute. After that, the nominal guests went into the tribune room at the command of the head coach, which led to a technical defeat.
Thus, Galatasaray, without a fight, won the Turkish Super Cup for the 17th time in its history. Despite the demarche of their opponents, the happy triumphants remained on the field and even played a “two-sided game” — the base against the reserve.

The match fell through before the New Year. Initially, the striking confrontation for the Turkish Super Cup was supposed to take place on December 29 in Saudi Arabia, but the meeting had to be postponed after a joint decision of the clubs due to “some glitches in the organization.”
In fact, the football players did not take to the field after the Saudi side banned the use of a banner with Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s motto “Peace at home — peace in the whole world” at the match, and athletes from wearing T-shirts with the image of the founder of the modern Turkish state. Subsequently, Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç said that he would talk about the incident with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan (the country's leader called on the opposition not to “arrange shows and provocations” after the incident), and also accused the federation of disrupting the game, hinting at the need for the resignation of sports officials.
However, this incident was not at all the reason for today’s action of Fenerbahçe, which is fighting for the gold of the national championship (the gap from the leading Galatasaray is only two points, seven rounds remain until the finish).
Football has turned into a massacreIt has turned into a real nightmare Turkish Super League match on March 17. Trabzonspor fans broke onto the field after the final whistle and attacked Fenerbahçe players who were celebrating an away victory with a score of 3:2. A brawl broke out — while the referees were trying to stabilize the situation, the field turned into the UFC octagon.
The football players simply had to run to the “sub-tribune” under a hail of objects flying from the stands.
The events in Trabzon caused a great resonance in Turkey. While law enforcement agencies detained the crazy fans, Koç called on Fenerbahçe fans not to buy tickets for the Super Cup match with Galatasaray, and also, calling the current season in the national championship “the most disgusting”, allowed a transition from the Turkish championship to another football league countries. As foreign media reported, the championships of Italy, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Belgium were considered as a new permanent tournament. True, at the moment this issue is under discussion.
A similar story is with the club’s position on the Turkish Cup: the president of Fenerbahçe said that the club is considering refusing to participate in the competition in the next two seasons.
