The Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro crossover distinguished itself with its interior and more

The new generation SUV debuted in China. They will offer an extended version; at the first stage, the model will be available with a two-liter turbo engine.

The European Volkswagen Tiguan entered a new generation last fall. And now a long-wheelbase crossover with the L prefix, intended for the People's Republic of China, has been officially presented. By the way, such a fresh SUV also has a “surname” Pro, because its predecessor is not going to retire yet (in China it also has a coupe-like version): models of two generations are being produced at the SAIC Volkswagen JV plant.

In terms of exterior design, the Tiguan L Pro is generally identical to its European brother, the only difference is in the details. For example, on the front bumper of a standard Chinese crossover there are other horizontal dies — they are expanded at the edges. The body kit of the “sportier” Tiguan L Pro R-Line is designed a little differently.

The length of the new SUV for China is 4735 mm (+2 mm compared to the previous Elka), width – 1859 mm (+20 mm), height – 1682 mm (+9 mm), wheelbase – the same 2791 mm. Dimensions of the “old world” third generation Tiguan: 4539/1842/1639 mm, distance between the axles – 2680 mm. At the same time, the “Chinese” still only has a five-seater cabin. The volume of the trunk of the VW Tiguan L Pro is 471 liters, with the backrests of the second row folded, this figure will increase to 1696 liters (the cargo compartment of the predecessor holds 495-1780 liters).

The interior is also made according to “European” patterns, but it also has its own characteristics. Thus, the Tiguan L Pro, along with a virtual instrument panel and a central 15-inch multimedia tablet, received a third screen: an 11.6-inch touchscreen is intended for the front passenger. In addition, the Chinese crossover has a two-story tunnel, and not a continuous one, as in Europe. But they left the puck with a small display — it can be used to select the driving mode or adjust the volume.

The list of equipment of the Volkswagen Tiguan L Pro also includes matrix headlights, a panoramic roof, a head-up display, seats with a massager, a parking assistant, adaptive cruise control, auto-braking and lane-keeping systems.

In China, a new generation crossover has so far been announced with a 2.0 petrol turbo-four with a power of 186 or 220 hp, which is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. The most powerful SUV has all-wheel drive. It is possible that later the model will acquire a hybrid version. Note that in Europe the model has its own engine range.

Public prime the new Volkswagen The Tiguan L Pro is likely to debut at the Beijing Auto Show, which opens at the end of April. Prices may be announced then. The previous Tiguan L in China today costs from 186,800 yuan (about 2,391,000 rubles at the current exchange rate).
