William Wragg, MP for Hazel Grove, resigned the Tory whip earlier this week and now sits as an independent after admitting passing on colleagues' phone numbers. to a man he met on Grindr, the gay dating app, who sent him intimate photos of himself.
Nadine Dorries, a former culture secretary, called on the parliamentary standards commissioner to launch a full investigation into Mr Wragg.
In 2022, he announced his intention to stand down at the next general election and spoke about his struggles with anxiety and depression, describing himself as “humiliated” in an apology over the entrapment scandal.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Where specific issues are identified, security measures are reviewed, adapted and strengthened as necessary. We continue to review the support we provide to MPs and their staff to ensure we have the right measures in place to keep them safe.
“All year round, [counter-terrorism] police and the Met work closely with MPs The authorities are constantly monitoring issues related to the safety of deputies and security measures for individual deputies.
“This is being done by parliamentary authorities, the government, the Met's parliamentary liaison and investigation team, and local officers from the national Operation Bridger network.”
