MOSCOW, April 12 The first launch of the Russian methane rocket «Amur-LNG» with a returnable first stage should take place in 2030, it was reported on Friday Deputy Prime Minister — Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov to journalists on Cosmonautics Day.
“»This project is being implemented using new organizational approaches and technological principles, which will significantly reduce the cost of the product, and is also designed for the given cost of the launch service. The planned launch date is 2030,» the Deputy Prime Minister said.
He recalled that the Samara Rocket and Space Center «Progress» is engaged in the creation of a reusable medium-class launch vehicle «Amur-LNG».
As previously reported by the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, the first stage of the reusable Amur-LNG rocket can be launched into space more than 50 times, and possibly more than 100.
The design of the Russian reusable methane rocket «Amur-LNG» started at the request of Roscosmos in 2020. The carrier must have a returnable first stage equipped with RD-0169 engines that run on oxygen and liquefied natural gas (methane).
