The Jetour Dashing crossover received local registration: production started at Avtotor

The Chinese brand and the Russian plant entered into an agreement, developed and approved a production plan for the current year.

Brand Jetour belongs to the Chinese company Chery, its crossover Dashing (pronounced “dashing”, and in the Middle Kingdom the model is called Dasheng) entered the Russian market last summer. Previously, these cars were supplied to the Russian Federation directly from China, but now dealers will receive cars with local registration: production of SUVs has started at the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant.

The parties signed a general agreement today, April 15, during a ceremony that took place at the said plant. The document defines the main directions and conditions of strategic cooperation between Avtotor and Jetour Auto. In addition, it contains an agreement to launch industrial production of Jetour brand cars at the facilities of an enterprise in the Kaliningrad region.

As part of the joint project, the parties will jointly organize the production of brand products in the Russian Federation, including a gradual increase in the level of localization and, in the future, “creation of capacities for high-tech full cycle production” (that is, with welding, painting and assembly).

Now the parties have already developed and approved a production plan for the current year, and also determined the directions for the development of cooperation for the period until 2028. In addition, as part of the project, a localization program for auto components is currently being developed. It is known that Avtotor and Jetour employees have already begun to prepare a conveyor for the full cycle production of brand cars. It is known that it is planned to launch in the first quarter of 2025.

Earlier, the Kolesa.ru correspondent already managed to test Jetour Dashing in action. Let us remind you that the length of the current crossover supplied from China is 4590 mm, width – 1900 mm, height – 1685 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2720 mm. The list of distinctive features includes: a frameless radiator grille, two-story LED headlights, retractable door handles, taillights in the shape of stretched “Games”.

The Jetour Dashing has a laconic interior design: the crossover is equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, a “floating” central tunnel, and an infotainment system with a large touchscreen (in the initial versions the diagonal is 12.8 inches, in the top version – 15.6 inches). The model also has an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display is available as an option. Rich versions also received a retractable footrest in the front passenger seat and a Sport button on the steering wheel, which activates the corresponding driving mode.

Recall that on the Russian market the crossover is offered with two petrol turbo-fours; the base engine is a 147-horsepower 1.5-liter TCI (maximum torque – 210 Nm). It is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed robot with two clutches. The top version is equipped with a 190-horsepower 1.6-liter TGDI (275 Nm), this engine comes complete with 7DCT. Drive is front-wheel drive only. The price of the current crossover varies from 2,489,900 to 3,189,900 rubles.
