The four-door appeared in photographs published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry. The official premiere of the new product is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
The current ninth generation Volkswagen Passat was presented at the end of last summer. Let us remind you that now this model in Europe is available only as a station wagon, and the German company has retired the sedan. However, on the Chinese market, the model, presented in two versions at once, differing in name and design, has its own development path. So there are sedans here, even two.

The appearance of one of them – the next generation Volkswagen Magotan – was declassified back in mid-January of this year. The production of this four-door is established at a joint venture between FAW and VW. Note that the appearance of the new Magotan differs from the current global Passat, although before that they had similar features. The second sedan for the Middle Kingdom has a familiar name – Passat. It is produced at the SAIC Volkswagen JV plant. True, the design of this model was previously noticeably different from the “world” model.
Now, pictures of the new sedan, which has received the “expanded” name Volkswagen Passat Pro, have appeared in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. And this car’s exterior design is close to the appearance of the “ninth” Passat, with the exception, obviously, of the stern. The front part of the cars is identical: the same stampings on the hood, the same head optics, connected to each other by a strip on which the brand logo is located in the center. At the bottom of the front bumper there is a large element consisting of a combined radiator grille and air intake. And on the sides you can see a pair of narrow air ducts.

The Passat Pro sedan has a sloping roof, traditional exterior mirrors and conventional door handles. The lights on this four-door are in many ways similar to the rear optics of the “world” station wagon. They are also connected to each other by a bridge tapering in the center and have a pattern of luminous strokes. However, the sedan's logo is located higher up, under the edge of the trunk lid, and not between the lights, like on the five-door.
Depending on the version, the new Passat is equipped with either 17-, 18-, or 19-inch alloy wheels. The overall length of the sedan is 5006 mm, width – 1850 mm, height – 1489 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2871 mm. This means that the four-door is 89 mm longer than the current global station wagon, and its wheelbase is 30 mm longer.

The Chinese sedan is based on the MQB platform. The Volkswagen Passat Pro line includes a pair of gasoline engines. The volume of the “junior” turbo-four is 1.5 liters, and the output is 160 hp. More expensive versions have a 220-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine under the hood.
The official premiere of the new product is scheduled for the third quarter of this year. Production of the new Passat Pro will be established at the same location — at a plant located in Shanghai. Let us remind you that this Passat is not intended for export markets.
