Business Development Director of Gazprombank Leasing Vyacheslav Mikhailov took part in the VI annual forum and exhibition of the automotive business FinAuto 2024. As part of his speech, Vyacheslav shared his vision of how the leasing market has adapted to the latest challenges. Thus, despite pessimistic forecasts for 2022, the market is showing a strong recovery. At the end of 2023, the volume of new business reached a record 3.59 trillion rubles, an increase of 81% by 2022. At the same time, the share of car leasing in the total volume was 52%. The number of new leasing agreements concluded in 2023 increased from 340 thousand to 484 thousand (+42% by 2022).
Vyacheslav noted that the need to update and expand vehicle fleets on the market still remains. According to analysts, the Russian car sharing fleet should grow to 85 thousand units by 2028, taxis — to 570 thousand cars. The growth will be almost 30% in both segments compared to the current volume. In a situation where vehicle prices are rising, leasing remains one of the tools that can be used to fully satisfy the demand for replenishment of vehicle fleets.
One of the drivers of the automotive sector has recently become the market for electric vehicles and equipment running on gas engine fuel. “We see that sales of electric cars are growing every year. We are confident that this trend will continue due to the emergence of new brands on the market, the expansion of model lines, and also through the development of charging infrastructure. Incentive measures of state support also play an important role in increasing sales of environmentally friendly transport,” Vyacheslav Mikhailov said during the discussion.
“The Russian leasing market needs to quickly respond to emerging challenges, create new and optimize current business processes, and expand the company’s services. For example, in 2023, the retail and e-commerce segments developed at an accelerated pace. The need for vehicle fleets grew in accordance with the expansion of their warehouses and the increase in the volume of warehouse equipment. Gazprombank Leasing quickly adapted its processes to these segments and has already implemented a number of large projects,” comments Mr. Mikhailov.
The annual FinAuto forum and exhibition is held in Moscow from April 17 to 18. In addition to Vyacheslav Mikhailov’s speech, Gazprombank Leasing, represented by the head of the operational services development department, Ioko Pavlovich, also took part in the expert discussion “Remarketing: how to sell and buy back corporate parks? The view of sellers and buyers.”
