MOSCOW, April 19 Telegram founder Pavel Durov, on the sidelines of the Token-2049 conference in Dubai, announced the tokenization of stickers and emoji that can be sold in the form of NFT.
“
"The next step we are going to take is to tokenize Telegram stickers. <…> We believe that emojis can also become NFTs. They're almost like stickers, but you can include multiple emoji in one message,” he emphasized.
Durov added that the company is going to rely on the TON blockchain.
The founder of Telegram also said that the messenger will have a mechanism through which users will be able to leave “donations” to channel authors in cryptocurrency.
In March, the messenger launched monetization — the authors of channels with an audience of more than one thousand people will receive 50% of the income from advertising that is displayed in them. Earlier, Durov said that the Telegram advertising platform will open in March in almost a hundred new countries.
Leading analyst of Mobile Research Group Eldar Murtazin stated in a conversation with that monetization of channels in Russia and a number of other countries will not work — in these markets there is already an advertising business model, according to which advertising is purchased in blocks for a long period. He added that such a monetization model is technically difficult to organize in Russia: for example, payments to foreign agents would violate the law.
