YEKATERINBURG, April 21 The flood situation in the Tyumen region remains tense, the level of the Ishim River is expected to reach a maximum in the near future, said the head of the region, Alexander Moor, in his Telegram -channel.
“The situation with the flood in the Tyumen region remains tense. The Ishim River in the city has exceeded 10.5 meters. The increase per day is 140 centimeters. The intensity has decreased, we expect a maximum in the near future. Now we are monitoring the condition of hydraulic structures. People are working around the clock,” – Moore wrote.
He noted that in the Kazan region there is a decrease in water level. Temporary roads have been made to cut-off settlements, bus routes have been adjusted, and boat crossings are in operation. The key issue, according to the head of the region, remains the supply of food, but the situation is under control.
“The wave is moving downstream along Ishim. The level in the Abatsk area is rising – plus 64 centimeters. We predict a peak here in three days. The level on the Tobol River is rising. We are expecting large amounts of water to arrive from Kurgan to Uporovo. I have instructed to increase the supply of bags to strengthen the embankment,” – Moore emphasized.
The head of the region added that populated areas will soon be freed from water and it is necessary to develop a clear schedule for teams that will disinfect flooded houses and areas.
A state of emergency due to flooding in the Tyumen region was introduced on April 8. Exceeding historical maximums in water levels is expected on the Ishim and Tobol rivers. The peak of the flood is expected on April 23-25.
