Mazda has declassified the flagship three-row crossover CX-80 for the European market; in terms of technology, it is maximally unified with the younger two-row crossover Mazda CX -60, but has a more spacious interior.
The CX-80 crossover became the fourth and, apparently, the last Mazda model on the Skyactiv Multi Solution Scalable Architecture platform with a longitudinal combustion engine and basic rear-wheel drive. Previously, this platform was given to the mid-size two-row crossover CX-60, aimed mainly at Europe and Japan, and the large three-row the CX-90 crossover for North America and the Mazda CX-70 large two-row crossover for North America. Mazda CX-90 and Mazda CX-70 differ from each other, in fact, only in the number of seats in the cabin.

With the European couple CX-60 and CX-80, Mazda got a little more involved, and did not just add a gallery to the CX-60. Up to the B-pillars, the bodies of the CX-60 and CX-80 crossovers are identical, and then the differences begin: the CX-80 has longer rear doors, a different roof profile, a different shape of luggage windows, a different rear bumper and even a different tailgate, only the lights are the same same as CX-60. The profile of the CX-80 is similar to that of the American crossovers CX-90/CX-70, but the proportions are different: the “European” rear doors seem more bulky due to the shorter overall length compared to the “American” ones.
