Champions The league quarter-finals have come to an end as both English clubs endured a night of horror.
Manchester City's dreams of a 'double treble' were shattered after a dramatic penalty shoot-out defeat from Real Madrid. Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic missed penalties as City lost 4-3 on penalties after their pulsating quarter-final match ended 4-4 on aggregate.
Arsenal's hopes were dashed as Joshua Kimmich's header was enough to send Bayern through to the semi-finals. After a thrilling 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium last week, the tie was finely balanced but it was the hosts who made progress as Kimmich headed home in the second half to seal Bayern's victory.
Kylian Mbappe scored twice in Tuesday's quarter-finals as Paris Saint-Germain took advantage of Barcelona's Ronald Araujo dismissal to reach the semi-finals with a 4-1 win in the return leg.
Borussia Dortmund led 2-0 thanks to Julian Brandt and Jan Maatsen before an own goal from Mats Hummels and a strike from Angel Correa equalized. Atletico Madrid led the way but the hosts responded superbly with Niklas Fullkrug and Marcel Sabitzer scoring to spark celebrations in Dortmund.
