MOSCOW, April 21 Russian Carolina Hurricanes forward Evgeniy Kuznetsov said that the past regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL) was difficult for him, and also called the first playoff match an opportunity to “start all over again.”
Carolina beat the New York Islanders at home with a score of 3:1 in the opening match of the first round series. 31-year-old Kuznetsov scored a goal, which became the first in the current Stanley Cup, and he also recorded an assist.

«For me it was a long and difficult season, everything was going wrong. The first game of the playoffs was the greatest opportunity for me to start again,” Kuznetsov was quoted as saying by the NHL’s official website.
The Russian moved to Carolina from the Washington Capitals as a result of an exchange in March. In early February, Kuznetsov turned to the league's player assistance program and was out indefinitely. The program was created to provide support to players experiencing, in particular, problems with alcohol, drugs, gambling, and psychological difficulties.
