The new crossover of the Japanese brand is expected to debut in the third quarter, and sales are likely to begin before the end of this year.
Nissan named its mid-size crossover Murano after the Italian island famous for producing Murano glass. The history of the SUV started in 2002; over the past years, it has changed generations only twice. The current third generation was introduced in 2014, and was updated in 2018. Let us remind you that previously the model was also produced in the Russian Federation, but now the brand is not officially represented on the market.

At the beginning of last fall, a prototype of the fourth generation Nissan Murano was captured by spy photographers. A little later, the designer Kolesa.ru created renderings demonstrating the potential exterior of the future crossover. However, we will find out later whether they correspond to reality: for now, the Japanese manufacturer is keeping the appearance of the new Murano a secret.

At the end of last month, Nissan announced thirty new products at once, and then it became clear that the upcoming premieres would be the new Patrol/Armada and Murano. The next-generation Murano is expected to debut in the third quarter, with sales likely before the end of this year.
The first details about the “fourth” Nissan Murano are reported by Autonews.com with reference to brand dealers in the States. According to them, the next-generation crossover “will be luxury-oriented.” They also noted that visually it will resemble the Acura MDX (remember, the Acura brand belongs to the Japanese company Honda). There are no details yet, but it is assumed that the model will have a “bold radiator grille”.

According to preliminary data, the next-generation crossover will be based on an upgraded version of the D platform, on which the current model, as well as the Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 are based. According to the publication, the new Murano may receive a four-cylinder turbo engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Specifications will appear later.
Note that the current Murano is equipped with a 264-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, and its maximum torque is 325 Nm. It comes paired with an Xtronic continuously variable automatic transmission; The model is available with an all-wheel drive system.

As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, of the previously promised thirty upcoming models, fourteen will have a traditional internal combustion engine, the rest will be electrified. Judging by the teasers that accompanied the official strategy, in addition to SUVs and vans, the range will include sedans (or liftbacks); in addition, one of the new products is recognizable as the “electric hatch” Nissan Micra.
