Production of the four-door of the Japanese brand will be completed in the spring of 2025. The company promised not to raise prices until the final sales.
The Japanese manufacturer began producing Subaru Legacy back in 1989, and since then the model has changed generations six times. At the same time, the seventh-generation car, which debuted in Chicago in 2019, remained only in the States and Canada, and the model left other markets — Japan and Australia — due to weak sales. Obviously, now the age of Legacy is ending: the American representative office has officially announced the completion date for the production of the sedan.

It is known that the last Subaru Legacy will roll off the assembly line at the Lafayette (Indiana) plant in the spring of 2025. The company explained its decision to retire the model by “the transition of the market from passenger cars to SUVs and crossovers,” in addition, Subaru is going to actively develop its electric vehicle line.
Of course, this decision was also influenced by the low sales figures of the model in the United States. It is curious that at the end of 2023, the number of Subaru Legacy sales in this market increased by 12.9%. But already in the first quarter of 2024, the result dropped to less than 4.4 thousand units: this figure was 13.1% less than in January-March last year.
In The American division of Subaru reported that cumulative sales of all generations of Legacy in the United States have now exceeded 1.3 million vehicles. This model was the first to be released by Subaru in the States. After the departure of the sedan, SUVs such as Outback, Ascent and Crosstrek will remain on the assembly line of the Indiana plant.

Let us remind you that the current sedan is based on the modular platform SGP (Subaru Global Platform). For Americans, the Legacy is offered with either a 185-horsepower 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine or a 2.4-liter turbo-four with a capacity of 264 hp. Both options are paired with a CVT and are equipped with an all-wheel drive system.
The company promised not raise prices for Subaru Legacy until the end of sales. Today, for the launch version on the American market they are asking for at least $24,895, which is equivalent to approximately 2.33 million rubles at the current exchange rate. Purchasing the top version of the sedan will cost $38,195 (about 3.58 million rubles).
One of the most popular models of the Japanese brand in the States is the Subaru Forester crossover. At the end of last year, it changed generations and is now based on the modified SGP “trolley”. This new product has noticeably grown in size. Sales of the model on the American market will start soon.
