Avito Special Equipment experts analyzed the dynamics of supply and demand for special construction equipment in Russia for the first quarter of 2024. According to the platform, the Chinese brand XCMG is leading in demand for new construction equipment, and Russian KAMAZ is leading in demand for used construction equipment.

The most popular type of construction equipment in the first quarter of 2024 was a concrete mixer truck. It was the leader in the share of demand for both new special equipment (34.9%) and used equipment (33.2%).
Another 23.9% of the demand for new construction equipment was occupied by road rollers, 10.4% by motor graders, and 7.3% by concrete pumps. The top five was completed by drilling rigs with a share of 4.7%.
Also popular types of new construction equipment in January — March of this year were asphalt pavers, asphalt spreaders, HDD (horizontal directional drilling) units, road milling machines and tower cranes.
Among used construction equipment, truck-mounted concrete pumps took second place in demand (24.0%), followed by road rollers (12.9%), motor graders (7.1%) and drilling rigs (5.3%).
The ranking of used special equipment continued: drilling and crane machines, asphalt pavers, crawler cranes, piling rigs and tower cranes.

“It is noteworthy that the leaders in demand for used construction equipment include only two Chinese brands out of ten: Jiuhe and Shacman (Shaanxi). While in the market of new construction equipment such brands already occupy most of the top in terms of demand share: KAMAZ holds sixth place, Road Machinery Plant – ninth, and the remaining eight places are taken by brands of Chinese manufacturers. China is occupying an increasingly confident position in the global automotive industry, not only in the segment of passenger cars, but also in the segment of construction equipment,” notes Andrey Kovalev, head of Avito Special Equipment.

So, the top brands of new construction equipment are headed by the Chinese brands XCMG with a demand share of 19.5%, then Shacman (Shaanxi) with 11.7%, Zoomlion with 6.1%, Howo and Sany — each 5.7%.
The leader in used construction equipment was the Russian KAMAZ with a share of demand of 20%, followed by the Korean DXD (13.8%), then the Chinese Jiuhe (3%), the Belarusian MAZ and the German-French brand Bomag — 2.9% each. .
