Production of the models will begin in July of this year at the Bavarian company’s plant located in Munich.
Updated versions of the BMW 4 series and M4 coupes and convertibles debuted at the end of January this year. Let us remind you that during this restyling, all two-door cars received new optics and modernized technology. Now it’s the turn of the remaining members of the family: today the Bavarians have declassified the refreshed BMW i4 and 4 series Gran Coupe.

During the update, these models changed the LED graphics of their head optics: like a number of other cars of the brand, they received running lights in the shape of boomerangs. The “fours” also had a new radiator grille and a plug in place of the “grill”, although they are still made in the form of the brand’s “nostrils”. The edging of this element is now made of matte chrome, not only in the standard version, but also in the M Sport version (an option in black is available for an additional fee).
The stern was decorated with Laserlight lights, which were first demonstrated on the limited edition version of the BMW M4 CSL. The refreshed BMW i4 and 4 series Gran Coupe in the M Sport version are equipped with a different diffuser, which is now made of glossy black plastic, regardless of the configuration. The models are offered with 19- and 20-inch wheels of the original design. In addition, the exterior color palette includes a couple of new options — Cape York Green metallic and Vegas Red metallic.

The updated BMW i4 and 4 series Gran Coupe also received a modified interior, which received more touch panels, while the number of physical buttons was reduced. Control of a number of functions has been transferred to a curved display, which includes a virtual instrument panel and a display of the modern BMW iDrive infotainment system with QuickSelect (shows the most frequently used functions on the main screen).

The company decided to equip these models with a smaller gear selector, like other current cars of the brand. Sports seats are now standard on the BMW i4 and 4 series Gran Coupe. They also received new materials for interior trim; for an additional fee you can choose leather trim.

The BMW i4 technology remains the same, but the 4 series Gran Coupe versions have had an upgraded power plant. The 430i version is equipped with a mild-hybrid system, which is based on a 2.0-liter turbo-four working in tandem with a 48-volt electric booster. The company explained that the engine was modernized due to different intake ports and combustion chambers, changes in camshaft control, injection, and ignition system. Power remained the same — 259 hp. and 400 Nm of torque.

In the M440i Gran Coupe variant Under the hood is a 3.0-liter inline-six, which also works as part of the MHEV system. “Electric booster” gives an additional increase in power of 11 hp. and a torque of 200 Nm. The output of the installation is 391 hp. (539 Nm). The rear-wheel drive version takes 4.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 96.7 km/h, and the xDrive all-wheel drive version takes 4.3 seconds.

It is known that production of the updated BMW i4 and 4 series Gran Coupe will be launched at the Bavarian company's plant located in Munich in July of this year. The cost of the updated models will be announced later.
