The IAEA considered that the situation at the Zaporozhye NPP remains unpredictable
Over the past week, no new drone attacks have been recorded at the Zaporozhye NPP, but the situation remains unstable and unpredictable. This is reported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
«We have not received information about new drone attacks since the incident a week ago, which is a relief. However, we are aware that the situation may suddenly deteriorate at any moment. It remains extremely unstable,” said the head of the organization, Rafael Grossi.
According to the agency, on April 18, at the Zaporizhia NPP there was an attempt to attack a reactor simulator by a drone.
IAEA representatives visited the station's training center on Monday. “They were unable to inspect the roof of the building, but a representative of the center confirmed that it was not damaged. The employees experienced stress and fear due to this incident,” the agency said in a statement.
The Zaporozhye NPP in Energodar consists of six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW and is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. At the end of February 2022, the station was captured by Russian armed forces, after which the Ukrainian military periodically shelled both residential areas of the city of Energodar and the territory of the station, using drones, artillery and multiple launch rocket systems.
