Mauricio Pochettino is not safe after the summer after Chelsea humiliated Arsenal

Chelsea face a huge hurdle with a surprise decision over Mauricio Pochettino's future as the club's players brace for another summer of turmoil.

According to Telegraph Sport, no majority decision has been made on whether Pochettino will remain as head coach beyond the end of the season. this season, despite losing to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final and being thrashed by Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Pressure is mounting on Pochettino amid frustration over some decisions, but he remains backed Chelsea, and there is recognition that he worked under difficult conditions.

There is also a view that Pochettino cannot be held solely responsible for the difficulties facing Chelsea as he is not responsible for the transfer policy and the decision to build such a young team.

Many players also face this . future is uncertain: Chelsea need to find money to sign contracts and comply with profit and sustainability rules.

Despite the devastation and chaos of the past two years, sources insist Chelsea remains an attractive proposition for some leading coaches who would be willing to replace Pochettino if he leaves.

Failure to qualify for any European competition would put Pochettino's job in grave jeopardy ahead of a late-season review by co-owners Behdad Eghbali, Jose Feliciano and Todd Boehly, as well as sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart.

Telegraph Sport understands the board understands that keeping Pochettino, no matter what, would give Chelsea much-needed stability at the end of almost two years of constant change.

But appetite for change could grow if results in the remaining games of the season fall amid growing fan dissatisfaction with events on and off the pitch.

Pochettino signed a two-year contract, which included an option to extend for a further 12 months, and European qualification was seen by some as the minimum target for his first season.

Although Chelsea have not made the progress they had initially hoped for at the start of the season, there have been encouraging signs, including trips to Wembley in cup competitions and an improvement in the club's home form.

His handling of youngsters talents such as Cole Palmer, Nicholas Jackson and Malo Gusto were also well received, although some of Pochettino's public comments about the team's lack of experience were not always received so positively.

Some of Pochettino's team selections have raised eyebrows, although injuries have often put pressure on his hand.

Pochettino is still in the game. He has yet to win over some Chelsea fans who oppose him over his Tottenham past and will now have a key role to play in persuading the club to back him.

A number of Chelsea players believe the team will benefit from Pochettino's tenure, but they are also aware of the possibility of another change following the sackings of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

There were fears that top managers would do so. nervous about the prospect of taking on the Chelsea project after the rapid sackings of Tuchel and Potter and believing another change would make their task even more difficult.

But sources rejected this theory, insisting there are already better ones coaches who would be willing to take over from Pochettino and would be delighted by the challenge Chelsea offered.

On the team that lost to City at Wembley on Saturday Defenders Thiago Silva and Trevo Chalobah are expected to leave Chelsea this summer, while the future of Tottenham target Conor Gallagher remains uncertain.

Offers from Saudi Arabia could be considered for Raheem Sterling, although Chelsea's top player has shown no desire to leave and Mark Cucurella is among the players who could be sold.

Foreign clubs have shown interest in acquiring Mikhail Mudrik. was on loan in January, but Chelsea did not want to let the striker go, even temporarily. It remains to be seen whether that position may change in light of more disappointing performances, including at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal.

The return of highly-paid goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga after a season on loan at Arsenal. Real Madrid will give Chelsea a headache and the club will be pushing for a permanent move for Romelu Lukaku, who spent his campaign at Roma.

Lukaku's contract with Chelsea has a release clause worth 37 million pounds. While Jan Maatsen, who impressed for Champions League semi-finalists Borussia Dortmund, has a £35m release clause in his contract.
