Sales of the Chinese brand’s hybrid crossover will begin in the Russian Federation in the third quarter of this year. Prices will be announced later.
At the beginning of this spring, Chery celebrated its 18-year presence in the Russian Federation and, as part of the festive event, announced several premieres for 2024. One of them will be the new flagship crossover Tiggo 9 PHEV. The world debut of this model took place at the Beijing Motor Show. The Russian representative office said that such a car will appear on the local market in the third quarter of 2024.
The flagship Chery Tiggo 9 shown in Beijing is visually different from its closest relative – the Jaecoo J8, sales of which started on the Russian market last week. The cars have a similar silhouette, sidewalls, stampings on the hood, traditional exterior mirrors and retractable door handles. The rear lights are designed in a similar way, only under the strip connecting them is the name of the Chery brand.

The head optics have a slightly changed shape and a different pattern; in particular, the thin strip of running lights is made not as a solid line, but as three strokes in a row. The hybrid flagship received a new radiator grille with a pattern of small arrows that rush towards the brand logo located above the center of the element.
At the bottom of the front bumper there is an air intake split in two with foglights; on the sides there is a pair of unusually designed air ducts. Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV has a body kit around the perimeter of the body, made of unpainted plastic, black roof rails and a chrome edging along the side glazing line. At the stern there is a nameplate indicating the modification.
Inside the Tiggo 9 PHEV you can see a three-spoke steering wheel with a truncated rim; in addition, unlike the Jaecoo J8, on the front panel of the Chery flagship there are two separate displays — a horizontally elongated virtual instrument panel and a floating tablet of the infotainment system. The central ventilation deflectors of the new SUV are also designed differently.

It is known that the new Chery Tiggo 9 is equipped with a plug-in hybrid unit, which is based on a gasoline 2.0-liter turbo engine, its output is 238 hp. s., and the maximum torque is 385 Nm. It works in tandem with a 224-horsepower 3DHT electric motor, and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The flagship's total range is 1,400 km, and fuel consumption is 5.2 liters per 100 km (WLTC cycle).
Russian prices of Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV will be known closer to the start of sales. Note that the recommended retail price of the flagship crossover Jaecoo J8 starts at 4,399,000 rubles, and for the top version they ask for 5,099,000 rubles, according to the price list.
