ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 1The fire in the Tarasovsky forestry of the Rostov region was eliminated on 169 hectares, Governor Vasily Golubev said. “As of 10.00 (coincides with Moscow time — ed.), a forest fire in the Tarasovsky district on an area of 169 hectares has been extinguished,” the head of the region wrote on Telegram.
Forest litter caught fire in the Tarasovsky forestry on Friday evening, presumably due to for a lightning strike. It was reported that the fire area was 63 hectares, and aviation was involved in extinguishing it. The fire was contained on Saturday morning.
It is specified that 226 people and 69 pieces of equipment, including a helicopter, were involved in the fire extinguishing effort.
