PYATIGORSK, June 1 More than 60% of the monthly precipitation fell in one day in four districts of the southern part of the Stavropol Territory, the region's governor, Vladimir Vladimirov, said on his Telegram channel.
Previously, the main directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region reported that from May 31 to June 1, downpours in combination with thunderstorms, hail and strong winds of up to 25 meters per second are expected in the Stavropol Territory. A high alert regime has been introduced in the region due to the threat of disaster.
«So far, the heaviest rains have occurred in the Mineralovodsky, Novoselitsky, Sovetsky and Georgievsky districts. Since yesterday evening, more than 60% of the monthly precipitation has fallen in these territories. The hail caused the most damage in the Andropovsky, Georgievsky, Mineralovodsky, and Predgorny districts. Power outages have been recorded. Emergency crews are working,” Vladimirov wrote.
The regional governor added that in some areas the elements damaged fields and gardens. «I have instructed the Minister of Agriculture Sergei Izmalkov to present an analysis of the situation and proposals for measures to eliminate the consequences,» Vladimirov noted.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Communications of the region, outages of power grid facilities were recorded in the cities of Caucasian Mineralnye Vody, Zelenokumsk, Sovetsky, Predgorny and Georgievsky districts. Power supply has been restored for about 17 thousand subscribers.
«According to operational data, consumers of Mineralnye Vody, the village of Nizhnyaya Aleksandrovka and the village of Inozemtsevo continue to be partially without electricity.
