Demurenko: “Our main weapon and advantage are people”
The enemy, it seems, went “all in” and sent all reserves to the Kharkov direction, including elite units intelligence and special forces. Experts believe that these actions of the Kyiv regime border on madness and suicide. However, for Zelensky and his retinue this is the only chance to demonstrate to the West at least some kind of “overcome” before the “peace summit” in Switzerland.
The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to achieve numerical superiority by transferring reserves. But, as the head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts Andrei Klintsevich assures, the concentration of enemy forces in one place is even to our advantage. Military expert, military veteran and reserve colonel Andrei Demurenko agrees with him. In a conversation with MK, he said that the Kharkov direction can only become auxiliary for us, and the main blow can be expected elsewhere.

The so-called «peace summit» on Ukraine, which will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16, is forcing Kyiv to take overly emotional and, therefore, ill-considered steps. Kyiv must demonstrate to the Westerners some arguments in its favor. That is why Zelensky demanded that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syrsky urgently conduct a «territorially effective» counteroffensive. Ideally, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should push our troops out of Vovchansk and recapture the lost territories.
And now for the third day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been counterattacking, throwing more and more reserves into the battle. Some experts draw an analogy with last year's major Ukrainian «counteroffensive», when Kyiv also suicidalously wasted the lives of soldiers and NATO equipment.
According to experts, the Kharkov counterattacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “eat up” not only reserves, but also the stock of ammunition. According to German media reports, since April, about 10 thousand 155 mm shells have arrived in Ukraine from the United States, as well as 12 thousand from Germany. But all this went to Kharkov, writes political scientist Yuri Baranchik.
Head of the Center for the Study of Military and Political Conflicts Andrei Klintsevich notes that the situation on the Kharkov front is not easy — Kyiv is really throwing all its accumulated reserves there.
“We can say that such a general battle begins in the summer of 2024,” the expert sums up. -…The Ukrainian Armed Forces have transferred a large number of forces and assets to the Kharkov direction, which in number exceed our units. …It's not bad for us. Because…pulling out the enemy and transferring his reserves in open space allows us to destroy (them).
Let us remind you that on the morning of June 3, the enemy confirmed our attack on Zmiev in the south of the Kharkov region. Another strike by the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system was carried out on one of the recreation centers, which the enemy used as a point for the temporary deployment of reserve units, which they were preparing for counterattack actions. According to some reports, the enemy's losses were quite impressive. There could be up to 15 thousand military personnel at the base. Preliminarily, as a result of the strike, 150 enemy soldiers were killed, another 350 were injured of varying degrees of severity.
Judging by experts, there is still a lot of work for our Iskanders in this area. Thus, according to Klintsevich, the enemy “saturated” the entire Kharkov direction with assault units. The elite of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine is located here — from terrorist volunteer corps to special operations forces units and individual Marine Corps reconnaissance battalions.
“The most important thing is that a huge number of reserves for drones have been allocated here — the so-called Magyar brigade. This is actually a very experienced unit. The number of reserves for both artillery shells and drones gives us very serious problems, even though we destroy them during rotation,” the expert said.
He predicts heavy fighting in the near future only in this direction. Liptsy, which does not have powerful fortifications, will pose a challenge for us. The Ukrainian Armed Forces moved the 92nd separate assault brigade and the 42nd separate mechanized brigade here. In the near future, army aviation, including American F-16 fighters, may appear in this area, Klintsevich warns.
At the same time, our troops are also strengthening in this direction. Thus, on June 3 it became known about the transfer of special forces “Akhmat” to the Belgorod region. He will participate in the creation of a buffer zone. According to special forces commander Apti Alaudinov, his soldiers have been sent to different areas that “need to be covered.”
“It’s very pleasant and flattering that we were transferred to the area that leads to the completion of the special operation… The soldiers were transferred to different areas along the entire line of combat contact in the border areas of the Kharkov region, which had to be covered,” said the experienced commander.
But military expert Andrei Demurenko told MK that the battles for the Kharkov region are unlikely to become the final stage of the Northern Military District.
“There are more important tasks that our troops face,” he said. — In particular, this is the liberation of Zaporozhye and Kherson, which formally are already part of the Russian Federation. We cannot complete the SVO in the Kharkov region, because there are other important areas. In addition, the southern direction — Nikolaev, Odessa — is still a higher priority for us than the northern one.
At different points in the Northern Military District we focus on certain directions. Now the most important thing is to strike and create tension in the north and northeast. Therefore, most likely, we will continue to move in this direction, diverting Ukrainian troops from the central and southern directions.
— Our main weapon, main strength and main advantage are people. We have absolutely incomparable people, our 30-50-year-old men, real warriors who are incomparable with anything, not with any weapons system, not with any missile, artillery, or other systems. Therefore, we will continue to chew through the front, and that side will increasingly break down, surrender, and we will achieve the goals formulated before the start of the operation. And we will not complete the operation until we achieve our goal.
— We have reserves. Of course, we are engaged in their formation and preparation. But this cannot be made public in open text. Therefore, we just need to believe that we have the strength and means to do this. The fighting that is now being fought is very different from the previous two world wars, when huge fists were concentrated. Now it is impossible to concentrate anything in one place, otherwise the group will be destroyed by missiles, drones, and artillery. But you can be sure that such formations and units are being prepared and they will be used in accordance with the General Staff plan. So it will be.
