MOSCOW, June 2. I. o. the rector of the metochion of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Sergiev Posad, where the murder had previously occurred, Hieromonk Anatoly (Serebrov) said that if the deceased refectory worker had not taken the blow of the criminal, there could have been many more victims, and the distraction and parish officers helped the police detain him.
The Moscow Region Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation previously reported the detention and arrest of a homeless man suspected of murdering a worker at a church refectory in Sergiev Posad. The man stabbed her 13 times; during interrogation, he admitted guilt.
“We were sitting at the planning meeting, and then the girls from the church shop called: “Volodya walks around with a stick and attacks everyone! We locked ourselves in. Help!” It was impossible to hesitate! We immediately ran out into the street. Vladimir (accused of murder – ed.), having committed a crime, was heading towards the church shop. Using the measures taken, my two assistants neutralized and subdued the criminal. In fact, Irina (killed – ed. ) took the blow, gave us time to get our bearings, call the police and neutralize him. There could have been much more victims: after all, he was rushing into the church shop, where there were people at that time, he was armed,” said Hieromonk Anatoly.
He noted that the issue of submitting an application for awards to the parish employees who detained the criminal is now being decided.
The attacker, said Hieromonk Anatoly, had been known at the compound for a long time and were familiar with his family.
“His mother worked for us as a cleaner for many years, two years ago she suddenly died of a stroke in the hospital. We organized a funeral. After her death, we continued to help our son: they fed and watered us for free. The fact is that he never worked in his life, he was on the support of his mother. The world collapsed for him. For some time he was a laborer in our yard, carrying out various duties, sweeping, cleaning the territory. He disappeared for a long time, and occasionally came to us to eat. The murdered Irina treated him with love. , always tried to give him something tasty. And he attacked her with a cry: “You killed my mother, you gave her poisoned pies.” This cannot happen, since Irina did not catch the time when Vladimir’s mother was working! – explained I. O. rector of the Resurrection Metochion. 
Earlier, the Regnum publication wrote that the daughter of the deceased, Christina, allegedly does not want to perform the funeral service for her deceased mother at the Voskresensky Compound, since not a single priest offered her help or support when she was at the Compound. Hieromonk Anatoly said that these statements are on the conscience of those who wrote, and provided a screenshot of her daughter Christina’s comment on Telegram refuting this information under the repost of the Regnum news on the Sergiev Posad Life Telegram channel. The Sergiev Posad Life channel also posted this comment. According to the hieromonk, help and support were provided.
Hieromonk Anatoly noted that today the clergy and numerous employees of the metochion, who personally knew Irina, took part in the funeral service for the deceased in the church, of which she had been a parishioner for many years.
