In our market, an SUV with an impressive design is offered in five versions. But you won’t be able to choose the engine and gearbox.
In the GAC Trumpchi line (the GAC concern uses the Trumpchi brand only in its native China), a crossover with the GS3 index appeared back in 2017. At the very end of 2022, the model entered its second generation, radically transforming both outside and inside. The “first” GS3 did not reach Russia, but they decided to bring the new SUV to our market: the start of sales was announced today, June 3. By the way, in some countries such a cross has the “surname” Emzoom, but in the Russian Federation it is simply GAC GS3.

Exterior features include numerous “sharp” edges, sophisticated head optics and retractable door handles. In the cabin there is a separate tidy and multimedia system, a two-story central tunnel and a “crystal” selector box.

In addition, as in other markets, in Russia, along with the standard model, there is also a “sporty” modification R-Style, its features are 19-inch wheels instead of 18-inch ones, “sporty tuning” of the engine and transmission, plus such cars have a Sport+ driving mode.
The length of the GAC GS3 is 4410 mm, width – 1850 mm, height – 1600, wheelbase – 2650 mm. Thus, the SUV is slightly larger than the updated Geely Coolray (length — 4380 mm, distance between the axles — 2600 mm), but more compact than the restyled Haval Jolion (4472 and 2700 mm). GS3 trunk volume is 341 liters, with the second row folded this figure increases to 1271 liters.
The crossover is offered with a non-alternative 1.5 petrol turbo-four, which in our version produces 170 hp. and 250 Nm (in China – 177 hp and 270 Nm). The engine can be “powered” by AI-92. The gearbox is also the same — a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. Front-wheel drive only.
Five designs are available to choose from. The list of equipment of the basic GS configuration for 2,299,000 rubles includes: LED optics, heated windshield, fabric upholstery, regular air conditioning, heated front seats, analog instruments, Russified multimedia system with a 10.25-inch diagonal touchscreen, pair of airbags, ESP, cruise control. In the GB version for 2,399,000 rublesa panoramic sunroof, climate control, a 7-inch virtual instrument cluster, leather upholstery, side airbags, and a rear view camera appear. Next comes the “sporty” GB R-Style, its price is 2,449,000 rubles.
Finally, the top-end GAC GS3 GL and GL R-Style for 2,599,000 and 2,649,000 rubles, respectively, also include rain and light sensors, an electric tailgate, and atmospheric lighting interior, curtain airbags, wireless smartphone charging (with cooling), all-round cameras, adaptive cruise, auto braking, lane keeping and traffic jam assist systems.
For example, the restyled front-wheel drive Haval Jolion with 1.5T (143 hp) and 7DCT will now also cost at least 2,299,000 rubles (the price of a crossover with manual transmission is 1,999,000 rubles; the all-wheel drive Jolion with 150 hp 1.5T and 7DCT costs from 2,449 000 rubles). And the modernized Geely Coolray (1.5T, 147 hp, 7DCT, 2WD) costs from 2,609,990 rubles (excluding promotions).
