KEMEROVO, June 9 More than 70 summer residents were evacuated in one day in the Novokuznetsk district of the Kemerovo region due to flooding caused by heavy rains, the head of the district reported Andrey Sharnin.
On Saturday it was reported that in the Novokuznetsk region they began to evacuate people from their summer cottages due to overflow on the road to garden societies caused by prolonged rains.
“Over the past 24 hours, more than 70 people were evacuated from Karlyk and Staroabashevo. The situation in the Novokuznetsk district due to long rains is difficult. Some garden communities in Karlyk and Staroabashevo are flooded. There are also floods in garden plots in Osinov Ples. If necessary, we will evacuate people,” – Sharnin wrote in his Telegram channel.
He added that specialists from the Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Department, “Protection of the Population and Territory of the Novokuznetsk District”, and search and rescue service are on constant duty.
The head of the district noted that the road to Karlyk is currently open. The water level in Tom is decreasing.
«At the moment the level is less than 5 meters. The operational headquarters continues to work,» Sharnin wrote.
