An image of a character from a cult animated series was found in the tomb of an Egyptian mummy.

“This is a rare and important scene in history.”

Archaeologists have found an image of a “Simpsons” character on the tomb of an Egyptian mummy that is more than 3,000 years old.

Archaeologists have discovered that on the inside of the lid of an ancient Egyptian tomb there is an image of a yellow woman in a long green robe with blue hair arranged in a rectangle, similar to the image of Marge Simpson, writes the Daily Mail.

A photograph of the ancient tomb was recently published. on Reddit, where it caused a stir with online users asking “Marge?” and joked that “Egypt predicted the appearance of the Simpsons.”

Although the image bears a striking resemblance to the cartoon character, experts believe it depicts a woman buried in a coffin and departing for the afterlife.

The Egyptian tomb contained the mummified remains of Thadi East, daughter of the High Priest of El Ashmunein – city, located on the west bank of the Nile River and 27 miles south of where she was buried in Minya.

Archaeologists excavated the tomb in early 2023 and found a design similar to the drawing on the inside of the lid Marge Simpson, who was surrounded by a dozen high priestesses, symbolizing 12 noon.

The mummy was found in excellent condition, wearing a mask and a beaded dress.

“This is a rare and important scene in history. Each scene of this hour has its own shape,” said Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Vaziri in an interview with the Egyptian Gazette.

However, the drawing in the center has attracted the most attention due to its resemblance to Marge from the cult Fox animated series The Simpsons.

For years, people have said that the show predicts future events, often citing a 1992 episode that predicted the Washington Redskins' victory over the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl VXVI and a 2000 episode in which Donald Trump became president.

In 1990, The Simpsons predicted the censorship of Michelangelo's David, which came to fruition last year when a Florida school principal was forced to resign over complaints about a lesson in which she showed the statue.

One person wrote on Reddit that the painting on the tomb is “the only documented case in history where the Simpsons didn't do it first.”

The cemetery contains the remains of high-ranking officials and priests of the New Kingdom who lived from 1550 to 1069 BC.

Next to it they discovered a wooden coffin dating to the end of the 20th Dynasty and believed to belong to Nani, a woman who was the choirboy of the high priest of Djehuti, reports the Egyptian Gazette.

Researchers began excavating the site in 2017 and discovered artifacts made from pottery and wood, including covered urns called canopic jars that were used to store the entrails of an embalmed body, and several ushabti – figurines used during funerary rites honoring the dead .

They also found a fragment of papyrus that talks about the Book of the Dead, a collection of magical spells used by the ancient Egyptians to help them enter the afterlife.

“They imagined an afterlife as a kind of journey that you had to take to get to heaven, but it was quite a dangerous journey, so you will need magical help along the way,” says the British Museum.

“This is the fourth papyrus, discovered by the Egyptian mission after three that were discovered at Saqqara,” Waziri told the Egyptian Gazette, adding that “it will be exhibited in the Grand Egyptian Museum.”

Archaeologists believe these finds may shed light on on the culture, art and ancient funeral rites of the ancient Egyptians.
