MOSCOW, June 24 The ballet “Sextus Propertius” of the Yekaterinburg Ural Opera Ballet Theater and its director Vyacheslav Samodurov received the “Golden Mask” award, the correspondent reports .
«I am happy, this is a happy face, as happy as it can be. I thank all my co-authors, the Ural Opera Ballet theater and all the artists, without whom this would not have been possible,» said Samodurov, receiving the award.
The prize for the best performance was presented by the head of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theaters Valery Gergiev.
The winner for the best male role in ballet was Alexander Merkushev for his production of “Armida Pavilion” also for the Yekaterinburg Theater.
Prizes for best actress, conductor and “Best performance. Contemporary dance” were not awarded.
The award ceremony takes place on Monday on the historical stage of the State Academic Theater named after Evgeniy Vakhtangov.
«Golden Mask» is a professional award that was established in 1993 by the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation. The festival is held annually in Moscow and presents the best performances of the season in all types of theatrical art (drama, opera, ballet, modern dance, operetta/musical, puppet theater).
