Chupsheva spoke about the approach to the formation of a single BRICS carbon market

MOSCOW, July 11. As part of the track of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives at the design and educational intensive «Archipelago 2024» on Sakhalin, a series of events will be held on the topics of environmental well-being and climate sustainability, ASI General Director Svetlana Chupsheva said in an interview.
She clarified that the subtrack participants plan to work out effective solutions for adapting the regions of the Far Eastern Federal District to climate change, and develop, together with experts, additional proposals to be taken into account in the national project «Ecology».

Promising initiatives and projects of the Sakhalin region to achieve the target metrics of the national goal «Environmental Well-Being» will also be discussed.

“Moreover, we see the potential for the development of international cooperation in this area. At the design session on July 14, approaches to the formation of a single voluntary BRICS carbon market and methods for implementing climate projects will be developed. I hope that this idea, which has long been discussed in expert circles, should receive a number of specific proposals. Here are the issues of a roadmap for creating a single market of carbon units with common standards, a register, a verification system and mutual recognition, and the issue of creating a system of analytical and scientific support for the solutions being developed,” said the head of the ASI.
On July 10-21, the design and educational intensive “Archipelago 2024” is taking place on Sakhalin. Organizers: Agency for Strategic Initiatives, NTI Platform, Government of the Sakhalin Region, NTI Foundation and University 2035.
