ULAN-UDE, July 21About 200 tourists were placed in temporary detention centers in the village of Turan, Tunkinsky district of Buryatia, where traffic on the A-333 federal highway was stopped due to the erosion of the approach to the bridge over the Bolshoi Zangisan River, the press service of the regional government reported.
“About 200 tourists are now in temporary accommodation centers,” said a representative of the press service.
Earlier, the press service of the government of Buryatia reported that tourists traveling to the Nilova Pustyn resort were unable to travel to their destination; temporary accommodation points were organized for them at the Turan school and kindergarten, and water and hot meals were supplied to them.
On Sunday afternoon, at the 142nd kilometer of the A-333 highway, due to partial erosion of the approaches to the bridge over the Bolshoy Zangisan River, vehicle traffic was stopped. The regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations urged people to refrain from traveling in this direction, since there is no passage or detour to the road. At the moment, there is no road connection for the population of five villages in Tunkinsky and all settlements in Okinsky district. This is the only road along which you can get to the Irkutsk region and Buryatia. An inter-municipal emergency regime has been introduced in the Tunkinsky and Okinsky districts.
Restoration work is underway, rock soil is being transported from two quarries. Currently, 20 dump trucks, two front loaders and an excavator are involved in the work; in the near future it is planned to increase the number of equipment to 25. The work will be carried out all night in two shifts. According to preliminary data, the time to restore traffic on the bridge is 15 hours.
