NEW DELHI, July 21 Proton Women's Volleyball Club «from Saratov won the first friendly match with the Nepal national team.
The meeting ended with a score of 3-0 (25:17, 25:19, 25:15) in favor of the Russian team. The match was broadcast by Hamro Khelkud, Nepal's leading online sports news portal.
The Nepal women's volleyball team has been participating in international competitions since 1999. The team is a bronze (1999, 2006, 2016) and silver medalist (2010, 2019) at the South Asian Games.
Before the start of the match, all participants in the event were greeted by the Russian Ambassador to Nepal Alexey Novikov. He noted that a series of games between the Russian and Nepali national volleyball teams will serve not only the development of sports, but will also give a new impetus to the development of economic and political relations between the two countries.
Proton Women's Volleyball Club arrived in Kathmandu yesterday at the invitation of the Nepal Volleyball Federation. In the capital of Nepal, the Russians are scheduled to play two friendly matches with the Nepal women's national team, as well as a meeting with official representatives of the Nepalese federation and a master class.
As noted on the club’s website, the trip to Nepal is supported by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nepal, the Embassy of Nepal in the Russian Federation, the Honorary Consul of Nepal in St. Petersburg and the MediCity company.
