“To do this, he will need to get rid of some illusions.”
Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race will greatly harm Democrats in the United States. The eminent polymath Anatoly Wasserman is absolutely sure of this. In a conversation with MK, he spoke about the problem that the Democrats will face after Biden leaves, and also said how Trump will be able to end the conflict in Ukraine.
“I did not expect Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, because in strategic terms this is a loss for the entire US Democratic Party,” says Anatoly Alexandrovich. — They still have no increased chances of winning the presidential elections. But Democrats complained that if Biden remained in the presidential election, this would worsen their position in the parliamentary elections. In my opinion, Biden’s withdrawal from the race will worsen their situation even more. So they could shout during the campaign that it was Biden who worked very poorly and all the shortcomings that the Republicans talk about are precisely a consequence of his activities. And we, Democrats, they say, are white and fluffy.
“Now they don’t have this trump card,” says Wasserman. – By the way, Biden has probably already learned that he has decided to withdraw from the presidential race. I still hope that he was informed about this. Although it seemed to me that they would still “hold him out” to defeat in the elections.
According to Wasserman, after the second arrival of Trump, the Ukrainian conflict will end. Although for this Donald will have to get rid of some illusions.
“Trump has shouted more than once that he will end the fighting in Ukraine the next day,” Wasserman continues. — In any case, he will either have to filter the market or be responsible for the market. It is clear that the failed assassination attempt practically guaranteed his victory. And he insured himself against a new attempt on his life by the fact that the vice-presidential candidate was even “Trumpier than Trump.” Now killing Trump is simply pointless.
— But we must keep in mind that Trump still holds on to several illusions, — says Wasserman. — It seems that he still sincerely believes that Ukrainians are a separate people, and not part of the Russian people. And on this basis, he believes that it is necessary to preserve Ukrainian statehood in at least some form. I think that as soon as he tries to start negotiations, he will be convinced that Ukrainian terrorists are incapable of reaching an agreement. And then he will resort to the extreme measure that he has already threatened more than once, namely, he will simply stop funding Ukraine. And without funding, it will last, as the Anglo-Saxon proverb says, no longer than a snowball in hell. Thus, the hostilities will end.
— Trump does not need conflicts in principle, — says Wasserman. — He has set himself the goal of returning to the United States the industries that were removed from there in the last few decades. And conflicts are completely unnecessary for this. There are many other ways. He needs a conflict with China only as a pretext to raise duties on imports of Chinese products. But they can be raised without a conflict. Therefore, Trump is not interested in conflicts. Moreover, a significant part of American resources is spent on these conflicts: both material and political. And it should be noted that Trump, when he led the United States, did not start or provoke new conflicts.
