Former Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Dmitry Bulgakov was detained by the Federal Security Service of Russia. The agency reported this on Friday, July 26.

It is reported that he is involved in a corruption case. He is currently in a pre-trial detention center. The information was also confirmed by the Investigative Committee of Russia. It is specified that the case is being investigated by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

“The necessary investigative actions are being carried out with the defendant,” the agency said in a statement.

Dmitry Bulgakov served as Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia from 2008 to 2022. He was responsible for logistics. In September 2022, he was dismissed from his post due to a transfer to another job.

Earlier, it became known about the arrest of the former general director of the military construction company of the Ministry of Defense Andrei Belkov. The day before, on July 24, he was sentenced to pretrial detention.
