ST. PETERSBURG, July 30 A court in St. Petersburg has extended the arrest of Ukrainian citizen Vladislav Sugakov, accused of espionage, until October, the united press service of the courts of St. Petersburg reports.
«The Petrogradsky District Court of St. Petersburg issued a ruling to extend the preventive measure in the form of detention for Ukrainian citizen Vladislav Sugakov, accused of committing a crime under Article 276 (Espionage) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,» the press service reported.
The investigation believes that in April-May 2022, Sugakov, acting in fulfillment of a spy assignment received from foreign intelligence, collected information about the location of units of the Russian Armed Forces in one of the regions of Ukraine and passed this information to a representative of the SBU.
The defendant's pretrial detention has been extended until October 1.
The joint press service of the courts clarified that Sugakov was detained in early 2024, at which time he was remanded in custody.
