The Embassy recommended that Russians in Venezuela not go outside
The Russian Embassy recommended that Russians currently in Venezuela not go outside. Diplomats also called for safety measures due to the protests that have broken out in the country. Representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission in Caracas wrote about this on their Telegram channel.
It is also reported that the embassy has not received any information about injured Russians or related incidents.
Recall that on July 28, presidential elections were held in Venezuela, following which Nicolas Maduro was re-elected.
Nine countries have stated that they do not recognize the results of the vote. The corresponding declaration was signed by Ecuador, Uruguay, Peru, Paraguay, Panama, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Argentina.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the current head of Venezuela on his re-election.
Commenting on the protests that broke out, Nikolai Maduro said that they are «very similar to color revolutions.» He also said that about 80% of the protesters had previously had problems with the law.
