Honored pilot Popov: F-16s transferred to Kyiv pose minimal threat to Russia
Honored military pilot of the Russian Federation, retired Major General Vladimir Popov explained what threat the F-16 fighters transferred to Kyiv pose to Russia. URA.RU writes about this.
According to the expert, the threat from the F-16s is minimal for the Russian border regions, but it exists.
According to the publication's source, even if the Ukrainian Armed Forces find «kamikazes» who decide to break through the Russian border at any cost, they will receive a worthy welcome.
«But here we also have to assume that the air defense system will work and fighters will intercept,» Popov said, noting that Russian pilots are ready for the appearance of such «kamikazes.»
He added that the F-16s will be based in Ukraine very far from the borders with Russia. And in this situation, they will not be able to fly to the Russian borders without a drop tank, and this will significantly reduce their maneuverability and stealth for the Russian Armed Forces, the major general concluded.
