The German manufacturer showed the next generation Caravelle and the new Transporter in the PanAmericana version.
The Volkswagen brand has long since begun to gradually declassify the seventh generation Transporter. It is worth recalling that this project was the result of cooperation between VW and the American company Ford (the corresponding alliance was created back in 2020). So it is not surprising that the closest relative of this new product from the German brand is the one-ton Ford Transit Custom van presented in 2023, and the new Caravelle has the Tourneo Custom.

Now the manufacturer has shown the T7 van in the passenger version of the Caravelle and in the PanAmericana version. As expected, the exterior of the new Volkswagen Transporter shows features of the all-electric van ID. Buzz and Multivan. The future commercial model has new head optics with LED «brackets» of running lights along the lower edge, a large «smile» of the radiator grille with a horizontal bar painted in the body color, a neat air intake integrated into the lower part of the front bumper.
In profile, traditional door handles and conventional rearview mirrors are visible. For the PanAmericana variant, the lower part of the front and rear bumpers is made of unpainted plastic, and the sidewalls have matching linings for the wheel arches and doors of the van. In the shown passenger modification of the Caravelle (designed for nine riders), the lower parts of the “face” and stern, as well as the sides, are painted in body color. The vertical rear lights are inspired by the Amarok pickup truck.
The German company showed the interior of the new generation Volkswagen Transporter at the end of last year, and drew attention to its details last week. Recall that in the van's interior you can see the same round steering wheel as the VW T6.1, and on the front panel there is a 12-inch virtual instrument cluster with its own graphics, as well as a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, inherited from the «donor» from Ford. It is known that the new van will be larger and more spacious compared to the current version. The standard version has a length increased by 146 mm and is 5050 mm, and the distance between the axles has grown by 97 mm (up to 3100 mm), the width has increased by 128 mm and is now 2032 mm. The roof can be either standard or high, while the second option is available in combination with a standard wheelbase.
The distance between the axles of the extended version of the new VW Transporter is 3500 mm, the length is 5450 mm; the maximum cargo capacity is 9 cubic meters. It should be noted that the future van with a standard wheelbase and high roof has a maximum useful volume of 5.8 cubic meters, a dynamic roof load of up to 170 kg, and a towable trailer weight of up to 2.8 tons.
The next generation VW Transporter borrowed its “stuffing” from the Ford Transit/Tourneo Custom. The new model will be available with diesel engines (2.0-liter EcoBlue, which can produce 110, 150 or 170 hp), plug-in hybrid systems (based on a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter gasoline engine, which comes with an electromechanical variator, the total output is 233 hp) and an electric motor on the rear axle (power — 116, 136, 218 or 286 hp; batteries with a capacity of 54 or 84 kWh are available to choose from).

The starting price of the new Transporter has already been announced: the basic van in Europe starts at 36,780 euros (equivalent to about 3.39 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
