MOSCOW, August 3 The search and rescue operation in Nizhny Tagil has been completed, 15 people, including seven children, were rescued from under the rubble, five children were among the ten who died, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported.
«The rescue operation in Nizhny Tagil, where a building collapsed on August 1, has been completed. Russian Emergencies Ministry specialists rescued 15 people, including seven children, from under the rubble. Unfortunately, 10 people, including five children, died as a result of the tragedy,» the report said.
It is noted that more than 550 personnel of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and 74 units of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the emergency. Rescuers worked around the clock, using nine canine teams. According to the department, 2,496 tons of debris were removed.
In addition, psychologists of the Russian Emergencies Ministry helped in 24 cases, and 88 calls from citizens were received on the hotline, which were processed.
Two entrances of a five-story gasified building on Sibirskaya, 81 in Nizhny Tagil collapsed on Thursday due to a gas-air mixture explosion. A state of emergency has been declared in the Dzerzhinsky district of the city. The regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case on the performance of work or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements. According to the latest data from the Russian Emergencies Ministry, 10 people have died.
The head of Nizhny Tagil, Vladislav Pinaev, declared August 3 a day of mourning.
